Luis Casadevall is a Spanish photographer guided by a defining principle: “To photograph the soul, and to photograph from the soul” His practice is rooted in long-term, immersive projects that seek to reveal the emotional depth beneath visible reality. He usually returns to the same places over extended periods, building trust and understanding the culture, the location and how people live, move, and feel. This sustained engagement allows him to photograph what is not immediately seen, the inner atmosphere, the subtle gestures, the unspoken. Casadevall never stages or directs his subjects. There is no posing; his images emerge from spontaneous, real-life moments. This commitment to authenticity gives his work emotional precision and quiet intensity. Working always with natural light and a restrained visual language, he balances documentary and portraiture with clarity and depth. He has worked exclusively with Leica cameras since his early years, inspired by the Leica his father used, a tool whose discretion and precision align with his intimate way of seeing. Through time, proximity, and intuition, Casadevall captures the unseen dimension of reality.
