Biography
Mire Lee is a contemporary artist based in Seoul, South Korea, known for her innovative and immersive installations that explore themes of the body, materiality, and the relationship between the organic and the artificial. She was born in 1988 in Seoul and received her BFA from the Korea National University of Arts and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lee's work often incorporates a variety of materials, including silicone, textiles, and found objects, creating tactile environments that invite viewer interaction. Her exhibitions have been featured in prominent venues such as the 2021 Venice Biennale, the Museum of Modern Art in Seoul, and the Art Sonje Center. Lee's practice challenges the boundaries of sculpture and installation, prompting reflections on the nature of existence and the human experience.
