Shinetana

Shinetana, Mongolian, was born in 1983 in West Ujimqin Banner, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia. She currently lives and works in Hohhot. She graduated from the School of Art at Inner Mongolia University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree and in 2016 with a master’s degree. Her artistic practice primarily encompasses painting, video, performance, installation, and sculpture. Shinetana grew up in the pastoral regions of Inner Mongolia, and her life has been defined by constant travel between the grasslands and the city. These shifting identities have led her to reexamine the grasslands, viewing her own body as an extension of her current nomadic existence, and ultimately returning to an exploration of the multidimensional relationships rooted in the natural world—specifically, the grasslands.
