Vik Muniz

Vik Muniz (b. 1961, São Paulo, Brazil) is one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary artists. Working with dust, sugar, chocolate, diamonds, toys, scrap metal, dry pigments, antique postcards and magazine clippings, he reconstructs images that trigger subconscious visual memories, inviting viewers to reconsider the familiar. His works have been exhibited globally and are held in collections at the Guggenheim, MoMA, Tate Modern and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He represented Brazil at the 49th Venice Biennale (2001) and was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador (2011).
