Biography
Vivian Springford was born in 1915 in New York City. She studied at the Art Students League and later at the New School for Social Research. Springford is known for her abstract paintings that often incorporate vibrant colors and fluid forms, reflecting her interest in the natural world and the emotional experiences of life. Her work gained recognition in the 1960s and 1970s, and she exhibited widely, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Springford's paintings are characterized by their lyrical quality and dynamic compositions, making her a notable figure in the American abstract art movement. She continued to create art until her passing in 2003.
