Zhang Xiaogang

Zhang Xiaogang is a prominent Chinese contemporary artist born in 1958 in Kunming, Yunnan Province. He graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. Zhang is best known for his series of paintings that explore themes of memory, identity, and the impact of China's Cultural Revolution. His works often feature surreal portraits that reflect the collective memory of a generation. He has exhibited widely, including at the Venice Biennale and in major museums around the world.
