Founded in 2019 in Shanghai, China, Gene Gallery is dedicated to constructing an open, experimental platform that discovers and promotes artists with distinctive temporal spirits and regional identities. In 2024, Gene expanded the gallery space into a physically transformed industrial heritage building, broadening its scope from showcasing Asia’s multi-dimensional artistic landscape to supporting emerging artists on a global scale engaged in critical cultural reflection. Through converting non-traditional spaces into dynamic spaces for contemporary art practices, Gene contributes to present a series of exhibitions that merge academic depth with avant-garde innovation.
