The Shanghai Jiushi Art Museum Community was established in September 2018 with funding from the Jiushi Group, a major state-owned enterprise in Shanghai. The museum cluster consists of three venues, all located within historic Bund buildings managed by the Jiushi Group.

The Shanghai Jiushi Art Museum, located on the 6th floor of No. 27 Zhongshan East 1st Road (Bund 27), is the primary venue within the cluster. The building, formerly the headquarters of Jardine Matheson, is now a protected historic structure in Shanghai. Here, the museum has organized a series of comprehensive and international exhibitions centered on outstanding works by leading artists from China and abroad. Past exhibitions have featured original works by renowned Western artists such as Edvard Munch, Giorgio Morandi, Marc Chagall, and Pietro Annigoni. Prominent Chinese and international artists—including Wan Man, Bob Bonis, Fang Lijun, Zhang Qikai, Sui Jianguo, Pang Maokun, Xue Song, and Ding Yi—have also participated in group exhibitions at the museum.
