Press Release
Cub_ism_ Artspace is delighted to introduce the new spatial project, “CABINET”. It resembles a freely growing artistic corner, independent of the gallery’s main direction, focusing on presenting relaxed, vibrant, and experimental creations.
At “CABINET”, we explore undefined expressions with artists, experiment with unconventional forms, and revel in the improvisational and pure joys of art. “CABINET” is not just a display method but also a lighthearted adventure.
The gallery’s inaugural “CABINET” project will present Shengjie Jiang's solo exhibition, The Cabinet of Hers, curated by Haoyang Wang.
The Cabinet of Hers

The Cabinet of Hersis the debut solo exhibition of artist Shengjie Jiang, and also marks the inaugural [Cabinet] project of Cub_ism_ Artspace. Featuring over nine works created by the artist, the exhibition will be on view from April 18 to May 23, 2026.
The emotions accompanying one’s departure from home in youth are invariably complex—an almost inevitable rite of passage in the process of adapting to the society that lies ahead. Much like a fledgling swallow, one must leave the nest; harsh as it may be, survival depends solely upon learning to navigate the wilderness alone. The cakes, the ajar shelf, and the cabinets that appear in Jiang’s works still seem to bear the lingering traces of home warmth. When the lids close and the doors shut, such memories become sealed—transformed into her very own “Cabinet of Delphinium Days," which she carries on her journey.
"I strive to make the world's bitterest ice cream. Even if it is the most bitter scoop, even if its hue is darker than that of a black cat, even if its first touch upon the tongue is as sour as a cream of tears—still, as it slowly dissolves in the mouth, it remains nothing more than a scoop of ice cream, far less bitter than sorrow. When I consume that scoop, as it melts into a part of my heart, I shall become, in my own eyes, the strongest and most composed person of all."
To look into a box is to perceive depth and layers; within this space, the artist constructs a personalized "self-container," subjecting everyday objects to a process of representation. Time and memory can never be fully restored, yet by reconfiguring familiar, cherished fragments upon the canvas, she revives the tactile texture of recollection. The ice cream drizzled with memory may not be sweet; a leaping black kitten and a flickering, galloping pony traverse the compositions like moving slides. When rendered dynamically on the picture plane, animal images emerge as vivid and full of vitality. Though the memory of leaving home is often tinged with bitterness, that very bitterness renders home all the sweeter—and tempers the young with resilience as they step into the future.
