Li Kejin Solo Exhibition: Them

Hol Contemporary Art Platform presents “Them,” a new solo exhibition by Li Kejin, featuring a series of the artist’s recent works. “Them” first refers to the figures that appear in the paintings—forms suspended between the human and the alien. These beings retain enough traces of humanity for us to recognize them, yet through dislocations in body, skin, expression, and posture, they generate a sense of estranged unfamiliarity.

Them can be seen as a more fully formed moment within Li Kejin’s recent painterly trajectory. It extends the narrative tension and psychological estrangement that have long interested the artist—from the monster-like or allegorical qualities of individual paintings toward a more coherent construction of a collective world.
