Soft Frequencies

ShanghART Gallery presents the group exhibition Soft Frequencies at M50 Shanghai from June 5 to July 11, 2026, featuring multi-media works by 18 artists/groups. The exhibition rethinks contemporary habits of perception dominated by fast, direct, and intense information, proposing instead a slow, quiet, and delicate way of seeing—stripping away external distractions to encounter the unadorned, fluid texture and humidity of things in their natural state.

Grounded in Henri Bergson’s theory of duration, Soft Frequencies treats “soft time” as a return to the original order of time—distinct from daily life’s fragmented, feedback-driven temporality. Through forms such as flowing silk threads, slowly advancing images, and experiments with light, the exhibition transforms the intangible soft frequency into an immersive on‑site experience, allowing viewers to rebuild a natural connection with objects and time itself at a decelerated pace.
