Press Release

Gallery Fractal is pleased to present the group exhibition Warm Up on March 3, 2026, featuring recent works by sixteen artists: Bao Rui, Chen Wenxuan, Dong Jingge, Tim Crowley, Ma Ruocong, Neng Jianri, Tian Shunyu, Wang Xitong, Wu Linghao, Wang Jiayu, Xiong Jiaxiang, Xu Jiaqi, Yan Dafu, Yang Yiming, Yuan Zhongyu, Zhao Rundong. The exhibition opens on March 3, 2026, and runs through May 2, 2026.

Warm Up describes a state of action at a critical threshold, and an intensity of sustained accumulation before an explosion of exponential growth. It points to the overlap of “imminence” and “continuous evolution”, often foreshadowing an impending dissipation—one that in turn reconstructs its own history within the movement that immediately follows. The historicizing impulse inherent in “warm-up” runs through the continuous evolution woven together by artists’ creative gestures, the emergence of artworks, and the complex operations of the art world. As energy accumulates, the latent potential of the preparatory phase is redirected into an active factor within the movement system. In this context, the boundary between preparation and formal presentation tends to dissolve.

The practices of the sixteen artists converge here into a collaborative movement system. Pre‑existing artistic objects define specific nodes within the system, capturing the fleeting intensities of ongoing self‑calibration. The works presented in the system refuse to assume any final conclusion, instead becoming real‑time samples of energy within the production flow. The physical space thus evolves into a superimposition of multiple spaces, where the continuity between elements ensures a persistent dynamic of “ready‑to‑burst”.

Together, these works reflect the intertextuality between the rapidly emerging and constantly self‑correcting nature of matter in the contemporary environment and artistic creation. Warm Up contains the unfolding of future action, which in turn revises the initial gesture. Here, the openness of a work depends entirely on its relational depth to the acceleration rate of its context—a depth judged no longer by past aesthetic experience, but by the self‑consistency of the system’s operation. Similarly, the intervention of the viewer’s gaze becomes a necessary disturbance in this process of heating up: it ultimately anchors an artistic reality, establishing a new starting point for the aesthetic circuit. This tension between movement and stillness forms the core of the exhibition: the system defines its own existence through continuous heating, while everything is propelled ahead of itself by progress.
