Zhang Meng: I Lost Half My Soul Here

I Lost Half My Soul Here brings together representative works from different stages of Zhang Meng’s practice over the past decade, with a particular focus on her recent expansion from painting into textiles, books, sound, and other media. The exhibition takes its title from a poem the artist wrote around ten years ago, reflecting experiences shaped by her continual movement between different cities, languages, and cultural environments. Shifting locations, family, and intimate relationships form the underlying structure of her lived experience, while dreams and bodily sensations continually unsettle established notions of time and space, allowing events from the past to take on new forms years later as they move across different media.
