Open exhibitor programGaotai Gallery, founded in 2019, is the first international gallery and art institution in Xinjiang, China, dedicated to contemporary art. The gallery primarily represents and collaborates with contemporary artists from Xinjiang and regions along the Silk Road, while also developing artistic projects across visual art, sound, performance, and design.
Booth Highlights:
Hailun Ma was born in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China in 1992, and currently lives and works in Shanghai. Ma’s work brings together traditional narratives and contemporary forms of expression, creating a restrained yet charged visual order between documentary observation and constructed photography. She continues to explore identity, female experience, youth culture, and emotional structures, responding through images to the complex position of individuals within specific cultural contexts, while maintaining openness and freedom in the act of viewing.
Kamila Rustambekova is a photographer and filmmaker based between Tashkent and Amsterdam. In her work, Kamila studies the imagery, memory, and untold stories of modern Uzbek society. For several years, she has been exploring her own family history, gradually extending her research to different communities and social structures in Uzbekistan.
