HTAN GALLERY

HTAN GALLERY was founded in 2021 as an international platform for photographers, dedicated to the promotion of contemporary photographic art.

HTAN GALLERY explores photography and art through four core programs. HTAN Discovery seeks out emerging photographers, inviting artists to present their work through self-submission or recommendation. HTAN Topics raises social and existential questions, encouraging photographers to respond and engage through images. HTAN Workshop is a photography workshop constantly on the move, where participants travel, learn, and create themed projects together with mentors. HTAN Classics centers on traditional photographic processes—listening to music in the darkroom, where classical techniques can be brought to life through one’s fingertips, including silver gelatin, wet plate, cyanotype, kallitype, Van Dyke brown, platinum, albumen printing, and more. Teaching, experimentation, and creation form the purpose of HTAN Classics.

With light and shadow as poetry, and the lens as a vessel for myriad worlds, HTAN GALLERY presents works by nine artists—Ai Ying, Feng Kaiyuan, Hu Shaofeng, Harry Williams, Jia Ke, Lim Thiam Hock, Wang Zheng, Zhang Pu, and Zheng Chao—on the occasion of PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai. Through the camera, they capture inner states; through craftsmanship, they distill dedication, presenting the diverse landscape of contemporary photographic art.
