HART GALLERY

HART Gallery takes Mountains and Rivers in Visit as its central curatorial thread, bringing together significant practices by more than ten artists. Through photography as a medium, mountains and rivers enter the space in different forms: at times as images, at times as faces, at times as text, a wisp of smoke, or an altered landscape. Along these intersecting paths, the boundary between visitor and visited quietly dissolves.

Chen Jianfei returns with his Baochu Pagoda series. Grounded in calligraphy and seal carving, he uses the ancient pagoda as a symbolic image-carrier, generating a visual language suspended between text and image through the brush rhythms of calligraphy, the traces of seal engraving, and the textures of materials. Zeng Han’s Tuo Pine series takes bonsai pines and cypresses as its subject, unfolding a cultural journey that spans millennia. By integrating the gestural energy and negative space of writing into the structure of the image, he explores the transformative potential of Chinese characters as visual elements within a contemporary context. Yu Songtao delves into classical literature and the tradition of geographical records, reconstructing the temporal depth of Eastern perception through ancient cosmologies. His representative work Ascension Atlas resonates with mythological poetry from ancient texts through image-making, opening hidden pathways of the mind.
