SIGMA FOUNDATION

The SIGMA Foundation was founded by Kazuto Yamaki, Global CEO of SIGMA, with the aim of supporting and promoting photographic art. As a Japanese manufacturer of photographic lenses and cameras, SIGMA has always guided its engineering and technological development with a profound respect for art, continuously supporting artists’ creative passion through product innovation. The SIGMA Foundation will become an important part of this commitment to artistic support, dedicated to collaborating with artists around the world in the creation and presentation of their work.

At a time when images are constantly being reshaped, the SIGMA Foundation seeks to return to a more fundamental question: why does photography exist? As its inaugural project, the SIGMA Foundation published two photobooks by internationally renowned photographers: HANATABA by Sølve Sundsbø and SONGEN by Julia Hetta. Through a spatial exhibition design, this booth transforms the publications into a viewing experience that can be “read,” allowing the images to unfold with a stronger sense of time and rhythm between the acts of turning pages and pausing to look.

While presenting works by established artists, SIGMA China also continues to support young artists. This special presentation features The Most Beautiful Day of My Youth, a project initiated by French photographer Bernard Faucon. Within this framework, young artist Théo Delors participates from his own individual perspective, responding to the theme of “the most beautiful day of one’s life” through the capturing and reconstruction of fleeting moments, guiding photography back to its original impulse as a form of witnessing.
