Blunt Society was initiated and founded in Shanghai in 2022 by the artist Ni Youyu as an independent institution dedicated to art exhibitions and research. It aims to promote academically driven curatorial practice and experimental artistic production, while fostering cross-disciplinary cultural exchange between art and architecture, design, music, literature, and other fields.
The physical space of Blunt Society is located within Xinkang Garden on Middle Huaihai Road in Shanghai. It is housed in a Spanish-style villa designed in 1933 by the renowned architectural firm Palmer & Turner.
– Exhibitions are open to the public by internal invitation and advance appointment only.
